Japamala & Friends
We are Mirta (Aquarius) and Sandro (Scorpio), the dynamic duo behind this craze called fashion. And together we have 4 kids. Yes, you read that right 4 : ) And a dog.
Sandro, a genius with numbers (he’s German – of course), started Japamala 20 years ago; a brand of basic, functional garments suitable for all bodies (and occasions). Basically, he’s the one who keeps the company’s sanity. At least the numbers.
And I’m Mirta and I hate numbers. I am responsible for the physical store, garments and image in general. My work background didn’t include sales and retail, as I worked as Marketing and Event Manager in Croatia, but when I joined Japamala and friends, it was clear to me that I wanted to treat every customer like a friend. Or at least, like a friend who needs a good fashion advice and a hug. And if someone would have asked me 10 years ago if I see myself as a designer and working in a clothing store – I would say no way! But life is full of surprises and I am suuuuper happy with my job.
Why “& Friends”?
We opened the store in 2013 with a clear idea: to give space to emerging designers, far from mass production and closer to what is made with soul.
Since then, we try to make each person, who visits us, feel listened and find something that really fits their style, their needs and their moment.
Here our customers discover unique garments, handmade, on a small scale, with a lot of love behind them. And at the same time, designers have a place where their creations are welcomed, cared for and valued.
That’s why we call ourselves Japamala and Friends – because it’s about sharing, supporting, and creating something beautiful together. And that’s why we like to say – “More than clothes, we create emotions”.
What will you find in the store?
In addition to our own brand, Japamala, here you will find garments and accessories from people we deeply admire.
Clara, Nat, Marisa, Pablo, Rosario, Miguel, Violaine, Nieves, Olga, (another) Clara, Vahri, Laura, Àngels, Maria Mercè, Victoria, Toni, Gwenn… Each one with their essence, their story and their way of seeing fashion.
We also have some selected pieces from larger suppliers, but we are all about closeness, authenticity, and the desire to share what really inspires us.
